Every patient is so uniquely different that I am constantly exploring the magic of meridians to achieve the inherent flow of the life forces within each individual I treat.

During the 40 years of practicing as a hospital based registered nurse I knew that there was something else I had to do. It took several tries and years before I found acupuncture. I have been practicing since 2009 and with every patient I am in awe of what this medicine is capable of doing.
Every patient is so uniquely different. There is no one size fits all and therefore I am constantly challenged to explore the magic of the meridians in achieving the inherent flow of the life forces within each individual I treat.
I hold certificates in Chinese Dietary and Chinese Medicine Specialty both year-long intensive classes of continuing education. I also have the most amazing cat "Louie" who is convinced he is a therapy cat. He is not allowed in the room if allergies are an issue.
My typical process in working with a new patient consists of an interview session of about one hour and then a brief acupuncture treatment. I base my plan of care on information gleaned during the interview and what my findings are relative to the pulse and tongue.
I have worked with young adults to patients in their 90's, males and females. They come to me with varying complaints or issues they want to work on from physical to emotional pain such as back pain, headaches, insomnia, GI disturbances, grief and stress.
What is my typical process for working with a new client?
I believe it is essential for a client and me to establish a rapport. To that end I have an extensive questionnaire I go through with you that allows us to get to know one another. I hear about your health and life history, your lifestyle habits and your concerns. In turn you are able to evaluate me. Together we are then able to decide whether we are a good fit and can move forward.
Insurance
I do take insurance. Please check with your carrier to make sure you are covered for acupuncture and for what conditions.
What education, training and/or credentials do I have that relates to coaching?
My background and training is originally in Western Medicine. I was an actively practicing Registered Nurse for 45 years before finding my heart in the study of Eastern Medicine. My initial training in that pursuit was at Tai Sophia Institute, one of the oldest acupuncture schools in the country and an establishment deeply rooted in the study of the five elements of fire, earth, wind, water and wood. The school has since changed its name to the Maryland Institute of Integrative Health.
I have an associate degree in Nursing, a Bachelors Degree with a focus on pre-med and a Masters Degree in Acupuncture. In order to maintain licensure in the State of Maryland I am required to have 30 hours of continuing education every two years. I always exceeded this requirement. My focus of continuing education is in following the teachings of Jeffrey Yuen, world renowned Chinese Medicine practitioner of Classical Chinese Medicine. I have a certificate in Chinese Dietary and have taken continuing education courses with Andrew Sterman, a disciple of Jeffrey Yuen’s. I am currently taking an in-depth course in Chinese Systems.
What types of clients have I worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of clients from the age of 15 to 94. Perhaps because of personal familiarity with a cancer diagnosis I tend to attract patients who have experienced the same. I have also treated clients with issues surrounding emotional and/or physical trauma, back and other pain, indigestion and other GI issues, insomnia, stress, allergies, fertility, nausea in pregnancy, weight loss and of course those just needing a “tune up.”
