Interior Design

ANGELA SCOLLAR

As the owner of Angela Scollar Designs for over 10 years, I have supported people in telling their stories by creating beautiful spaces that reflect who they are, their memories and what intrinsically inspires them. I feel incredibly fortunate to do the work that I do.

Interior decorating allows me to help people create spaces that tell their unique stories. In each design I create, there is never any cookie-cutter style. Rather, each solution is a reflection of the individual or family’s unique personality and style.

I am often asked if I always knew that I wanted to do interior decorating. I did! When I was a young girl I could get great joy designing center pieces for the family dining table and I was famous in our household for rearranging my room countless times to give it a new look and feel.

Looking back on my life, I realize now that my passion for diversity and international culture also pointed me toward an instinctive interest in interior decorating. I treasure the fact that we live in a multicultural world full of variations of design and beauty, represented in fashion, design, and even the fabrics and patterns that exist in our homes and adorn us.

I have always been interested in people's stories and interior decorating allows me to help people create spaces that tell their stories. However, I did not find my way to interior decorating until later in my career.

I had also always had a love for writing and decided instead to go a more 'practical route' and get a degree in journalism to become a journalist. Yet, as much as I loved being in media, I found my way to interior decorating. I have found that both industries use some of the same skills -- the core one being the need to have a sincere, keen curiosity and an innate ability to listen.

Separate of being an Interior Decorator, I am also a wife and mother of two and now, a guardian of my precious nephew and niece. Another role is that of a devoted friend to a group of women that I have known throughout my entire life and as fate would have it, somehow, we all live just moments from one another. My soul is fueled by the friendships.

One other tidbit about me... I love fueling my inner-rockstar tendencies by singing karaoke in a local karaoke league and while I am not a swimmer, being by the water and boogie boarding is soul rejuvenating for me.

About Angela

What is my typical process for working with a new client?
I begin the process with a Discovery phone or Zoom call to determine if we are a good fit for each other. During this 15- to 30-minute complimentary consultation, I get to know you, your needs and design challenges. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions.
Following that, we set up a coaching call with Lindsay to really get to know style and how you want to feel in your space. We are adept at working completely virtually especially during the pandemic. However, if that is not possible, we may make one visit to your home if you feel comfortable adhering to COVID guidelines.

Next, I determine the best design solutions and put together a vision board, which showcases a collection of furniture pieces, colors, fabrics, etc. We then make any adjustments and discuss which pieces you would want to move forward with. You would then purchase items at your discretion and leisure. Or, if you choose the full service option, we would be taking care of delivery and install for you, as well.

What credentials do I have for my specialty/specialties?
I have over 15 years of interior decorating, 13 years of which I have run by own business. I also have a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Journalism/Public Relations and a Minor in Graphic Design/Photography. These degrees lend themselves to my storytelling approach from a visual perspective.

What types of clients have I worked with?
I work with primarily with residential clients—single, divorced, families and almost-empty nesters to name a few. I take into consideration their life stages and changes reflecting the ebb and flow of life.
